DS3231 is a low-cost, high-precision I2C real-time clock (RTC), with an integrated temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) and crystal. The device includes a battery input terminal, which can maintain accurate timing when the main power supply is disconnected. The integrated crystal oscillator improves the long-term accuracy of the device and reduces the number of components in the production line. DS3231 offers commercial grade and industrial grade temperature range, adopts 16-pin 300mil SO package.RTC saves seconds, minutes, hours, day of the week, date, month and year information. For months with less than 31 days, the date at the end of the month will be automatically adjusted, including corrections for leap years. The working format of the clock can be 24-hour or 12-hour format with /AM/PM indication. Provides two configurable calendar alarms and a configurable square wave output. Address and data are serially transmitted via I2C bidirectional bus.A precise, temperature-compensated voltage reference and comparator circuit is used to monitor the VCC status, detect power failures, provide a reset output, and automatically switch to a backup power supply when necessary. In addition, the /RST monitor pin can be used as a manual input to generate a μP reset.In addition to high timing accuracy, DS3231 also has some other functions, which expand the additional functions and selection range of the system host. The device integrates a very accurate digital temperature sensor, which can be accessed through the I2C* interface (as time). The accuracy of this temperature sensor is ±3°C. The on-chip control circuit can realize automatic power detection and manage the power switch between the main power supply and the backup power supply (ie, low-voltage battery).
